Unlike a regular paint process, brake caliper powder coating relies on an electric charge to ensure the powder sticks to a surface, rather than any kind of adhesive. This process helps to prevent chemical damage and it also renders the calipers relatively better able to deflect anything that strikes them. Powder coating will also make the brake calipers much easier to clean. Brake dust and road debris, and dirt generally slides off a powder coated brake caliper with the application of high pressure water, or light pressure from a clean fleece mitt or microfiber cloth. With proper care and maintenance caliper powder coating should last longer too.
